Letterpresse Jewelry charms are gold vermeil (a french word pronounced ver-may), which consists of three layers of 18k gold plating on top of the sterling silver. Vermeil pieces of jewelry are made entirely of precious metals, which gives the piece an intrinsic value. Letterpresse Jewelry is made with vermeil knowing that pieces are only precious metals: no “mystery metals”.
Gold vermeil takes a bit of extra care. The gold may patina after some time, depending on its wear and the amount of care taken. This is due to the sterling silver oxidizing under the gold. We advise you follow the below instructions to care for your gold vermeil jewelry, as you would your sterling silver jewelry.
Always remove your gold vermeil jewelry when applying scent, lotions and potions, or even better, always put your jewelry on last when getting dressed. As with sterling silver, never wear your gold vermeil jewelry in the shower or when swimming. Chlorine, especially at high temperatures, can permanently damage or discolor your gold vermeil jewelry. Please remove your vermeil jewelry for sports.
Preventing it from getting wet and keeping it away from harsh chemicals, chlorine, lotions and perfumes will ensure its lasting quality.
To clean rub gently and very occasionally with a dab of liquid soap. Rinse soap away with a dry soft cloth to prevent water stains.
Each Letterpresse necklace has a lovingly hand-stamped pendant, which has been thoughtfully curated by you. Hand-stamping is an artisan craft, and each piece will be a bit off, a bit not-perfect, a bit “hand-stamped” looking. Please enjoy the not- so-perfect charm of these charms. Remember, La vie est belle!!
Cheers!!!
